Annual Events

Winter

Burns Night

Held on a Saturday night around the end of January to celebrate the national poet of Scotland, Robert Burns. It’s a night with plenty of poetry, song, humorous speeches and banter. Lots of whisky, but no dancing!

Spring

Muckleshunter Spring Ceilidh

A traditional Ceilidh (pronounced Kay - Lee) - features good food and plenty of dancing. The meaning of Munkleshunter is derived from the Gaelic words "Muckle" (great) and "shunter" (to dance). The Muckleshunter is very informal and a time to let your hair down. The Society also holds dance practices on Wednesday evenings preceding the event.

Fall

St Andrew’s Ball

Held at The Conrad in Seoul, usually on the last Friday or Saturday in November. Many wear tartan, with men in traditional kilts and ladies in their finest dress. As well as good Scottish fare, there will be plenty of whisky and Scottish dancing all night. Unique to Seoul is a breakfast around 3:30am, which harks back to the days when Seoul had a curfew and the St Andrew’s Ball was truly an all night affair. This event is preceded by 8 weeks of dance practice at the British Embassy - even if you can't attend the Ball, it's a great opportunity to get together with friends and learn some Scottish steps!

Seasonal Whisky Tastings

The St Andrew's Society started a new venture in 2026 - whisky tastings! Anyone from a novice to an intermediate whisky connoisseur is welcome to attend!

We plan to have whisky tastings seasonally throughout the year. Space is limited so, if interested, be sure to subscribe to our email newsletter or follow us on instagram (@standrewseoul) to get notified first!

Free Scottish Dancing Lessons

The St Andrew's Society of Seoul hosts a spring and fall dance lesson season. The spring seasons precedes our annual spring ceilidh, Muckleshunter, usually from late April to late May/early June. The fall season, from early October to the end of November, is in preparation for our biggest event of the year, the St Andrew's Ball!
